Lutheridge 2008 Day Camp
Lutheridge 2008 Day Camp
Day Camp 2008 was a memorable experience for kids, counselors and adults. Many smiles, laughs and blessings were with us through out the week. Our counselor‚s names were Jason, Bandy, Tim, Sarah, Amanda, Hannah and Rob. Their caring, enthusiasm and the way they worked together during the week helped to make camp a huge success.
The kids were wonderful the entire week and it was clear on their faces they were having a blast.
Field trips to Greystone pool and Pleasant Valley Bowling Alley were awesome. Water day on Thursday was a huge success. In case you are wondering about the picture that is shaving cream over all of us!!
This year we had 5 Belarusian children with us the week of camp, Zhanna, Ivan, Rita, Liza and Artisom along with their interpreter Yonas. It is such a pleasure to have them every year and to experience the different cultures.
Our service project this year was for the orphans of Mnene Parish. Each camper decorated a bag for one orphan and we collected medical supplies. Peggy Ruopp was kind enough to come in on Friday and talk with the kids about the Mnene Parish.
Thursday night we had a program for all the parents consisting of songs, skits and what the kids had learned about God this week. We had ice cream and cake to top off the program. After parents were gone we all headed outside for our campfire, skits and those yummy smores. Our night ended with candle power in each of our small groups and counselor. Midnight lights were dimmed and all were REALLY asleep.
Friday morning breakfast consisted of 16 pounds of bacon, 6 dozen eggs, oranges and hundreds of pancakes. The final crafts, care group and games were played during the morning then noon was upon us which meant time for closing and saying good bye!
I want to personally thank Deanna Klimek, Tracy Hausfeld, Cathy Newcomer, Lisa Holzworth, Rebecca Klimek, Nathan Klimek, Christy Lyles, Ryan Lyles and Lindsay Lewis for all their help throughout the week. Another special thanks to all the parents who made snack and drove to the field trips. We couldn‚t have done it without you.
I look forward to camp 209 and I‚m excited about new adventures, faces and ideas that we can experience together. Camp is such a joy for me and holds a very special place in my heart.
In Christ Service,
Miss Barb
