The following guidelines will help you get your information on the GSLC website in a timely and effective manner. Articles should be emailed to webmaster@gslchurch.org
What to Post?
Any church-related information you want to disseminate to the congregation or visitors. The web is ideal for distributing information about your group and its activities and events. Unlike our printed media (the Pewsletter and The Shepherd's Voice Newsletter), the web displays in color. This makes it ideal for photographs. The web can support short or long articles.
Where to Post?
Our web is divided into two major areas, the Home Page and the Ministry Pages.
Home Page:
The Home Page is what you see when you first go to the web. It is very much like a newspaper front page. The Home Page is “the place to be” but it has limited space so not everything can be there and it can’t be there forever. Generally speaking, our Home Page is set up with the newest articles at the top of the page. They move down as they age until they eventually fall off the page. Articles typically stay on the Home Page for 3-4 weeks. Due to the limited space on the Home Page, articles there tend to be only a few paragraphs long. If you need more space, it is possible to start an article there and continue it on another page (once again, just like the newspaper.)
Ministry Pages:
Every GSLC ministry has its own page. They can be found by clicking the Ministries link in the left column of any page. The page for each ministry is the place to put information specific to your ministry.
Ministry Teams:
Each Ministry Team should have one volunteer responsible for updating information on their Ministry Page. Timely updates are important to keep everyone informed.
Here is the information we expect ministry teams to post:
- Mission Statement
- Ministry team photograph
- Names of each team member
- Current year goals
- Current year meeting dates or schedule
- Meeting minutes posted after each meeting
- Previous year accomplishments or highlights
- Information and pictures of events
Church Council:
The Church Council should have one volunteer responsible for updating information on their web page. Timely updates are important to keep everyone informed.
Information to include:
- Names of Council members and responsibilities
- Council photograph
- Current year goals
- Meeting schedule
- Meeting minutes posted after each meeting
- Annual approved Spending Plan
- Annual Meeting presentation
- Annual Report
How to Post?
Articles should be submitted in plain text If you have something that requires the formatting to remain, such as a brochure or form, it will be posted as a PDF document. You can submit it as a PDF, a .DOC, or a .PS document for posting. Photographs may be submitted online (limit 3 and an email of 3 MB or less to keep from overflowing the email inbox). Large photo collections such as slide shows, should be submitted on CD and placed in the Web box in the workroom.
Articles should be emailed to webmaster@gslchurch.org.
