Mission statement
GSLC Senior Adult Ministry encourages Christian fellowship, leading to individual and group service to meet the changing needs of senior adults in our community.

Senior Adult Ministry Goals for 2009
Continue Community Building & Continuing Education events:
- Lunch & Learn every other month
- Day trip or overnight once each quarter
- Traditional OWLS events
Expand Opportunities to Serve & Opportunities to be Served:
- Increase number of Friendly Visitors to home-bound members
- Support Congregational Life Ministry with “Care Team” development
Implement “Second Half” small discussion groups (Spiritual Development)
Plan & Implement Service Project / Mission Project

Saturday luncheon at Team member homes – every other month
Learnings from our GSLC Senior Adult Survey
#1 – Many GSLC senior adults want opportunities to socialize
#2 – Many GSLC senior adults want opportunities to serve others
#3 – Some GSLC senior adults want help identifying resources that will help with increasing interdependence
#4 – Our GSLC senior adults are a very diverse group (married, single, working, retired, active, disabled, independent, home-bound, etc.)

2nd Saturday Lunch & Learn (community building & continuing education)
- 7 luncheon speakers; Martha Grove Hipskind (Aging Issues):
Walt Chmelewski (Arthrtis Care), Dr. Bob Cook (Springmoor), Melanie Bunn (Alz. Assoc), Mary Kreul-Starr (Hospice), Dave Dahl (Medical Directives), Brown-Wynn (Funeral Planning) - 70+ different participants (average attendance of 20)
Mid-week day trips (community building & continuing education)
- NC Museum Tour, Yates Mill Tour, Durham Bulls, NC Zoo,
- Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit
Overnight trips (community building & continuing education)
- Cape Lookout / Harkers Island, Lutheridge / Biltmore Estate
Monday Movie Matinees (community building & continuing education)
