Nominating Team For 2007 Leadership Positions
Nominations closed October 1 for 2007 leadership positions. A ballot was prepared and mailed to the congregation the week of October 9. However, due to delays in bulk mail delivery, some ballots are still in transit. For this reason, voting is being extended another week, through Sunday, October 29.
Positions on the ballot are as follows:
- Church Council (1 position, 3-year term) – This seat is currently held by Scott Buell, who is also eligible for re-election. Potential Council members should be willing to fill any one of the specific Council roles: President, Vice-President, At-Large Finance, At-Large Personnel, or At-Large Special Projects. More detailed information on Council member responsibilities and qualities is available from any Nominating Team member.
- North Carolina Synod Assembly Delegate (4 positions, 1-year term) – Potential delegates must be available to travel to Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory for the Synod’s annual meeting, held May 31 – June 2, 2007, and represent Good Shepherd in all votes.
- Endowment Ministry Team Member (3 positions, 3-year term) – Potential members must be at least 21 years of age and have been a voting member of Good Shepherd for at least five years. This ministry team is responsible for the custodianship and administration of the Endowment Fund.
- Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool Board Member (3 positions, 2-year term) – Potential members must have been GSLC members in good standing for at least one year. Members of Preschool teaching staff are not eligible. Board members provide guidance and oversight of the school and its goals.
- Faith Lutheran School Board Member (2 positions, 2-year term) – Although Faith Lutheran School has closed, the Board will still be very busy this year working toward getting the current property sold, and seeking to lay the groundwork to reopen the school in the future in a different location. Willing workers, as well as prayers, are needed for this board.
Because only one candidate was secured to run for two board positions, the ballot includes a write-in area for voters to suggest a person with potential qualifications to fill the second position. The Nominating Team will make contact with any qualified individuals following the October 29 counting of ballots.
- PLM / Families Together Board Member(2 positions, 2-year term) – Potential members should have a heart for the plight of the homeless in Wake County, and be willing to attend PLM-FT board functions and activities and advocate on behalf of the organization.
