GOOD SHEPHERD KICKS OFF 25TH ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN --THANK YOU, LORD! - March 5, 2006
On Sunday, March 5, Good Shepherd was privileged to host Pastor Charlene Limeneh, the Mission/Developer for Joy of Discovery Lutheran Church. This new congregation is being birthed to provide a Lutheran presence in Southeast Raleigh. Among the 8 priorities for Good Shepherd's Anniversary Campaign supporting Joy of Discovery congregation is our top priority.
Pastor Charlene's sermon focused on Jesus' Baptism and testing in the wilderness. With spirit and enthusiasm the congregation was reminded by Pastor Charlene that Lent is our time for a spiritual house cleaning. Such soulful work is not to be joyless, but is hopefilled because ours is a loving God. In the Baptism of Jesus we see the fullness of God disclosed---Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is driven to the Wilderness by the Spirit; we to are to attend to our desert places. God will restore us and renew in us His life-giving presence.
